Italian luxury shipbuilder Benetti was founded in 1873 in Viareggio by Lorenzo Benetti, making it one of the oldest European shipyards in the industry. Specialising in constructing semi-custom and fully custom composite, aluminium and steel yachts, Benetti is part of the Azimut-Benetti Group. Previously building commercial sailing vessels, the company split its business in the 1950s. During the 1960s, interest in its leisure boats took off after Fratelli Benetti designed and built its first steel with luxurious wood-panelled interior yacht, the Delfino. Since then, the yard has continuously expanded, building larger and more innovative yachts. The famous Tirreno and Mediterraneo models followed Delfino, and today Benetti builds a broad range of yachts, from 24 metres to 100 metres and more.
